Call for In-Store Marketing Summit Speakers

The In-Store Marketing Institute is seeking dynamic industry speakers for its 2009 In-Store Marketing Summit.

The Summit is an intensive educational program and networking event designed to help in-store marketing professionals understand and effectively reach today's shopper. The program features tracks of seminar sessions in key topic areas that relate to and define the in-store marketing industry.

This year's enhanced Summit program will offer an even greater level of education and inspiration to attendees. Speaking at the Summit provides leaders with a unique opportunity to share their knowledge and contribute to the industry's most anticipated conference program of the year.

If you are interested in speaking, please return your seminar proposal via e-mail to Ronit Lawlor at ronit_lawlor@instoremarketer.org by Sept. 12, 2008. Key information needed for your proposal is listed below.

Please note: Due to the volume of responses we receive, not every submission is selected. We rely heavily on two components: content matching the interests identified by our audience through surveys and session evaluations, and speaker references for new presenters to help ensure the quality of our programming efforts. We will notify you no later than mid-December if your submission is selected.

Here is a sample list of Summit topics that appeal to our audience:

  • Shopper Marketing and Shopper Insights
  • Consumer Buying Habits Research and In-Store Trends Research
  • Packaging and P-O-P Innovation
  • Channel-Specific Retail Trends and Research with Respect to In-Store Marketing
  • An Advanced Look at P-O-P for the Experienced Brand Marketer
  • Building Brands at Retail: Lessons and Opportunities
  • Brand and Retailer Collaboration Case Studies
  • Realities of In-Store Marketing Today (e.g., Environmental Sustainability and New Technologies)
  • Retail Media
  • Building a Shopper-Centric Company (Best Practices in Corporate Organization)
Here are a few key points to consider when planning your proposal:
  • Sessions are 45 minutes to one hour in length, including a question and answer period.

  • Commercialism and self-promotion are not allowed. If this occurs in your presentation, you will not be invited to speak at future Institute events.

  • The seminar audience consists primarily of brand marketers, retailers and agency representatives responsible for building the brand's presence in-store using P-O-P displays, packaging and other in-store marketing tactics, so plan your proposal to speak to this audience.

  • Travel and expenses are the responsibility of the speaker.
For proper consideration, please include ALL of the following information with your proposal:
  • Proposed speaker name, job title, and company name
  • Short biography of speaker (50 - 75 words)
  • JPEG or TIF head shot photo at 5 x 7, minimum 300 dpi
  • Contact information, including address, telephone, fax and e-mail
  • Title of Presentation (one line)
  • Short summary of content to be delivered (no more than 75 words), followed by 3 bullet points of what audience members can expect to "take away" from the presentation
  • Summary of previous conference speaking opportunities and two speaker references including name, company, phone and e-mail.
Thank you for your interest and support of the In-Store Marketing Institute's programming efforts. Please remember that speaker proposals are due Sept. 12, 2008 for consideration for the 2009 In-Store Marketing Summit.

If you are unable to submit a proposal, please help us with future programming and answer a few questions in the survey attached at right.

If you have any questions, or would like to discuss a potential topic with me, please feel free to e-mail at ronit_lawlor@instoremarketer.org or call me at (201) 297-1570.
