Women in P-O-P Nets $116,000 for Charity

Skokie, Ill. -- The In-Store Marketing Institute announced today that the 10th annual Women in P-O-P Benefit to Fight Breast Cancer, held Sept. 15, contributed $116,000 to the Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization.

A significant increase over 2004, the donation will help foster Y-ME's mission to ensure through information, empowerment and peer support that no one faces breast cancer alone.

Margaret Kirk, CEO of Y-ME, was presented with the check for $116,000 by the 2005 Event Co-chairs:

  • Lori Goodman, Group Manager, POS and Display Purchasing, Frito-Lay
  • Jenn Rosumny, Former Director of Visual Merchandising, Skechers
  • Pamela Orlando-Gangware, Manager, Creative Services & Visual Merchandising, Walgreen Co.
  • Cindy Berkow, VP Sales, Rand Display
  • Diana Campbell, Display Group Marketing Manager, Smurfit-Stone Display Group
  • Anita Michals, Senior Account Director, United Displaycraft
"Having already coordinated nine years of these benefits, which have raised more than $1 million dollars, we like to think of this contribution as a healthy installment on the next million," said Peter Hoyt, the Institute's Executive Director. "We are thankful for the countless hours of volunteers' time and the financial support of the corporate and individual contributors, without whom this event would not be possible."

The benefit, "Sweet Hope Chicago," took place at the close of the In-Store Marketing Expo, at McCormick Place, where women and men representing consumer packaged goods companies and leading retailers hosted the evening. More than four hundred guests filled McCormick Place's Lakeside Terrace in celebration and support of the cause. Guests enjoyed an evening complete with authentic Chicago cuisine, cocktails and live entertainment by Chicago Blues legend Ronnie Baker Brooks.
